Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all the comments...even the spam ones!

So, a big recap on the last week... it was good, except for some minor sickness!
Let's just say that our new years eve party was as boring as hell (Now I was sick).

After getting back to the south island we went to St. Arnaud. A beautiful place right in the mountains. But after that, it started raining all the way to Karamea. It rained so hard, that the road from Westport to Karamea was closed due to flooding. That was crap!

So we ended up staying in Westport and Greymouth... Greymouth being the most boring place on the planet.

We then went down to Fox glacier and did a glacier walk. Hugely rewarding and very exciting! I've put up some pictures of our tour on the glacier. By the way, even the tourguide was impressed that it was so dry...no rain at all. A couple of girls we met in a B&B in Hokitika got drenced, as they were going to Fox the day after. Big smile on our faces though.

It's true what people say about fiordland being the wettest place on the planet. After travelling to and staying in a remote resort in Wanaka, the rain started when we drove down to Te Anau. We stayed there in order to go kayaking in the Milford Sound. Ofcourse that lived up to it's expectation of being the wettest place in NZ.  250 mill of rain and 3 hours of kayaking...that's psycho! At the end, we didn't enjoy the trip and just wanted to go and have a bath. So now I'm sitting here with muscle pains. And I now know the misses would never have liked to do this trip on a motorbike!

So for now my update....oh, and we visited a couple Lord of the Rings film locations by hiking for about 4 hours and it's very rewarding!

Late christmas greetings

Day 7

Hi everyone, how are you? Don't answer, because that's how kiwi's ask say hello...strange folk. We're back in business with our internets! So without further delay:

HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!! Okay, I know it's kinda late...but then again, if you don't have internet for 4 whole days you would get kinda loopy too. So to recap, we spent our christmas chilling in Akaroa. It's a small village, that has it's origins with some frenchies... as everything is called Rue fromage and avenue de trottoir etc. etc. But serious, we had a very nice cottage and beautiful weather, a nice dolphin watching tour and a good walk in the forest.

Today we went to Hanmer Springs...pronounced hammer, but written hanmer. It's basically a big hot tub, as they pump up hot ground water and put that in the pools. Some smell nice, others like rotten eggs. Overall it's quite good for the skin. We'll put some pics online soon. By the way, I've updated the picture book to include the cottage at Akaroa and our delicious christmas dinner.

Oh, and if someone wants to go to the NZ, the prices are cheap and the food portions are large, compared to Europe.

Talk to you soon!

Kiwi ahoy!

Day 3

Every one is already in bed in NL, but here it's 12 hours later...I'm talking about New Zealand ofcourse :D

So today was planned to go into Christchurch, ride the tram and see the innercity, but Chantal got sick last night. A touch of the flu unfortunately. So I decided to go to town tomorrow and spend today indoors, looking after the miss(tr)es. No worries mate!

We picked up the car at the airport and I was shocked how much scratches there were on the car. It looks okay from a distance, and the interiour is also quite nice, but I had the girls write down everything that was wrong with it...took us 10 minutes (Yikes!) Al the while, Chantal was busy falling asleep on one of the chairs in the waiting room...poor girl! Even the customs officer was looking at her suspiciously.

As for the weather, I heard we made a narrow escape. We saw backyards filled with snow. Whenever I think of christmas, it's always with snow. In my case, there pretty santa girls in tiny red dresses and a santa hat, handing out flyers in 28º heat.

Tomorrow we're going to Akaroa to spend our christmas there.

Woohoo....Taronga Zoo

Day 2

You're day is just beginning...snow huh? Too bad for you. Although I prefer -2 over 30º any day. Today was a relaxing day at the Taronga Zoo. We came back and fell into a deep coma. Wait, that doesn't sound very relaxing to me...oh well. So I got myself a cap and in the process also made me look like an idiot. 2 birds one stone anyone? I made an animal joke :D

So tomorrow it's off to the airport to catch our 9:00 flight to NZ. See you guys there!

Out and about on our walkabout

Day 1

Arrived on the busiest airport in human history. People bumping into you, chaos with customs and quarantine and general mayhem at the exit. Oh well, welcome to Oz. We took a train to Town Hall, and walked to our hotel to drop our things. After 5 mins we were sweating like pigs...the humidity must be 99% or something, or I'm not in shape. Could be both ;). Fortunately, we could already get into the room, so a nice shower and away we went.
Also one important fact about the sun, it burns you if you don't know what it is. So, in the case of a Dutch person, I got burnt to a crisp.

Tonight I'll put some pictures of Sydney up on the "My pictures" section.

Stay tuned for another episode of "Clogs in the Oz".

Are we there yet?

Day 0

So our stopover at Bangkok was 45 minutes. We could leave everything on the plane, and so we did.
The flights were okay, we had 2 good night sleeps, so we arrived bright and chipper.

Almost there....not quite

Day -1

So today is "Moving day". Chantal threw our closet into 2 suitcases and we're almost ready to jet.
First to London. Qantas is flying us there, not BA...thank god! I heard BA has gotten really crappy. Planes look old and worn and service is not with a smile.

So, our next blog entry will be in Sydney...by the way, the temperature is going to be around 28º. 21 hours flight to go, monday we're there.

You can leave a comment if you want. Also, the "My pictures" section will be updated regularly.
